My second year of freelance beta reading and proofreading

It’s my second business anniversary tomorrow.

In the past year I’ve found:

A supportive community continues to be invaluable.

Mistakes are inevitable so I’ve changed how I react to them. Last year, being told I’d made a mistake in a post would have really shaken my confidence. This year if I do make a mistake, I try to understand why I made it so I don’t make the same mistake again. I now have several checklists and reference books to minimise the risk of making mistakes.

I probably know more than I think I do but it’s always worth double-checking if I’m not completely sure. The checklists and reference books help with this.

A work routine that’s sustainable for me, including knowing when to stop when I’m tired.

    Congratulations on your second year!

True what you say about mistakes. I can imagine the first ones made would shake you, make you question yourself. But you have a much healthier attitude towards it now. The best thing about mistakes is what we learn from them.

Continued success this year, and the next.

      Thank you.

Changing my attitude to making mistakes has taken a lot of the pressure off of myself as I know I now have the resources and processes in place to minimise them. You’re right learning from them is so important.
