Confidence is situational and varies from person to person. For example, when I worked in early years a few years ago, I used to love leading group time. However, if you’d had swapped the children in front of me for adults, my confidence would have vanished.
Sometimes confidence comes from a place where an activity fits your personality and others when you sit and reflect that you’ve developed an ability to do something that you never thought you’d feel comfortable doing but do now without thinking. Developing any skill comes from conscious repetition and feedback. This comes from small, incremental steps.
It’s helpful to have a supportive community who have been in a similar position and can help with advice. For writers this could include both other writers and feedback from beta readers, editors and proofreaders. To increase my knowledge and confidence, I use courses, reference and writing craft books.
