When I beta read, I do so with several general questions in mind.

Why is this piece of information here?

What does it tell the reader?

Does it tell us about the characters or further the plot?

If I reference a scene earlier in the manuscript, have I stated the page number and explained why I’m referencing it? For example, if there are inconsistencies.
